In 2010, Project Learning Tree and the USDA Forest Service are offering grants to teachers and students participating in PollinatorLIVE: A Distance Learning Adventure. Get to Know “This is My Forest” Video Contest

In celebration of 2011 International Year of Forests, the Get to Know Program, the U.S. Forest Service and Parks Canada, have announced a video contest. To enter, young people (18 and under) are invited to go outdoors and create a short video (30 or 60 seconds in length) that conveys the theme "This is My Forest". Whether it's a towering national forest or a tree in your backyard, tell us about your forest! There are two deadlines: November 30th, 2010 and May 28th, 2011. Students choose a project, manage it from start to finish, and develop decision-making skills and self esteem along the way. GreenWorks! PollinatorLIVE Grants
PLT, the U.S Forest Service and the Prince William Network are pleased to present PLT GreenWorks! PollinatorLIVE Grants. PLT-trained educators are eligible to apply for up to $500 to create a pollinator garden in their school yard or community. Students must be involved in the planning and implementation of the project. The deadline to apply is December 3rd 2010.
The grants are part of PollinatorLIVE: A Distance Learning Adventure. International Educators Institute
The International Educators Institute (IEI) is a forest study tour for environmental educators and forest researchers. Combining content-rich, hands-on experiences in the field with a multicultural exchange of best practices in education and research, IEI seeks to advance effective teaching and learning about social, economic, and environmental challenges facing the world’s forests. World-class scenery, special behind-the-scenes tours, and interviews with local people are combined with peer-to-peer leadership development. Disney's Planet Challenge Announces Funding for Classroom Environmental Science Projects Disney announced a new granting initiative to supplement its free environmental learning competition for fourth through sixth grade classrooms, Disney’s Planet Challenge. Disney is collaborating with DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that connects individual “citizen philanthropists” with classrooms in need, to match donations and fund 50 percent of each Disney’s Planet Challenge classroom environmental science project that qualifies.
Disney is providing a $100,000 grant to DonorsChoose.org that will be applied towards the Web site’s “Double Your Impact” feature which will fund 50 percent of environmental science classroom projects for Disney’s Planet Challenge, a program developed by Disney in collaboration with NSTA, West Ed K–12 Alliance and a number of federal and state government agencies. To be eligible, a school or organization must plan to garden in 2010 with at least fifteen children between the ages of 3 and 18. 2010 USA Biology Olympiad

USA Biology Olympiad, jointly sponsored by the Center for Excellence in Education and Purdue University, is a biology competition in the United States. Starting with registered students from across the country, the competition ultimately selects 4 students as "Team USA" to represent our nation at the International Biology Olympiad. Last year, for the third year in a row, Team USA returned home from the International Biology Olympiad with 4 gold medals. The team hopes to capitalize on this success in 2010! The USA Biology Olympiad provides an outstanding forum for aspiring biologists to learn and grow in the discipline through interaction with other likeminded students. Earthwatch Institute’s Live From the Field Fellowships

Live From the Field fellows join Earthwatch research teams on one to two week expeditions during the school year and share their experiences with their students by posting journal entries, photos, lessons, and suggested activities online. K-12 educators in the United States may apply.

These grants fund one-time-only, service-oriented projects identified by youth as activities they would like to perform to benefit their school, neighborhood, or greater community. Project Orange Thumb Grants

Fiskars awards grants to schools, youth groups, and other community groups with gardening projects featuring community involvement, neighborhood beautification, horticultural education, or sustainable agriculture. Successful applicants will receive up to $1,000 in Fiskars garden tools and up to $1,000 in gardening-related materials such as plants, seeds, and mulch. Disney's Planet Challenge Announces Funding for Classroom Environmental Science Projects Disney announced a new granting initiative to supplement its free environmental learning competition for fourth through sixth grade classrooms, Disney’s Planet Challenge. Disney is collaborating with DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that connects individual “citizen philanthropists” with classrooms in need, to match donations and fund 50 percent of each Disney’s Planet Challenge classroom environmental science project that qualifies.
Disney is providing a $100,000 grant to DonorsChoose.org that will be applied towards the Web site’s “Double Your Impact” feature which will fund 50 percent of environmental science classroom projects for Disney’s Planet Challenge, a program developed by Disney in collaboration with NSTA, West Ed K–12 Alliance and a number of federal and state government agencies. To participate, between now and December 18, fourth through sixth grade educators across the U.S. can find out more at www.Disney.com/planetchallenge.
EPA Environmental Education Grants

EPA seeks proposals to support environmental education projects that promote environmental stewardship and help develop knowledgeable and responsible students, teachers, and citizens. EPA issues Environmental Education Grants from Headquarters as well as its Regional offices. Regional offices fund projects from $5,000 to $50,000. EPA Headquarters funds projects from $50,001 to $200,000. Most grants awarded will be in the $15,000 to $25,000 range. Following instructions is an important part of the application process, so please read carefully!
Toyota International Teacher Program

The Toyota International Teacher Program offers fully-funded, international, professional development opportunities for U.S. educators. The program aims to advance environmental stewardship and global connectedness in U.S. schools and communities through creative, interdisciplinary, and solution-based teaching methods. NEA Foundation Green Grants

Public school educators are eligible to apply for NEA Foundation Green Grants worth up to $5,000 for the development and implementation of ideas, techniques and approaches for teaching "green" concepts. Big Green Help Grants target environmental education as an area of promise in helping students develop a sense of environmental stewardship. NEA’s Green Grants to Public School Educators support projects that integrate green-related topics with standards-based content areas to increase student engagement and improve academic achievement.
Braitmayer Foundation Education Grants

The Braitmayer Foundation offers grants to fund a broad range of K-12 education programs with curricular reform initiatives and professional development opportunities for teachers. The grants can be used as seed money, challenge grants, or to match other grants to the recipient organizations. Grants up to $35,000 are awarded and applications are accepted twice each year.
Lego Children’s Fund Grants

Target Field Trip Grants

Healthy Sprouts Awards Program

The National Gardening Association encourages the growth of health-focused youth garden programs through the Healthy Sprouts Awards Program sponsored by Gardener's Supply Company. The awards support school and youth garden programs that teach about nutrition and the hunger issues in the United States. To be eligible, a school or organization must plan to garden in 2010 with at least fifteen children between the ages of 3 and 18. The selection of winners is based on the relationship between the garden program and nutrition and hunger issues in the U.S. Visit the KidsGardening website to download an application. Grants are awarded in gift certificates to Gardener’s Supply Company and are valued at $200 and $500.
